For this portrait series, I used kodak 3200 on my new 35mm Canon Rebel T2 . Nico has many sides to his personality, and it was difficult to choose which part of him I wanted to reveal in this series. Ultimately, it came down to available shoot time and his initial shyness. Being a music composer as well as player, I followed him around his studio space as he worked on music, reflected, and interacted with his quiet studio space. These moody pictures should portray his studious side, and a personal glimpse into a time where he was self-isolated in his work and home. Further goals include a second series with an entire different mood, perhaps in a limited color palette.

Over 140 pictures were taken at La Maison Noureev, a french villa located in the French West Indies of the Caribbean during my stay from May - June 2005. I used a Olympus 5050z to capture full color photographs representing all rooms and exteriors. This historic property was once owned by the famous russian ballet dancer Rudolf Noureev, who once built the beautiful teak wood deck so he could dance facing the immensity of the ocean. The Maison features two master bedrooms, a private apartment (kitchen, bathroom), and a cottage (kitchen, bathroom, deck), as well as a guest cabin, and a small basin. All of these including the surrounding gardens and exterior had to be shot in just a little over a week. The result was print ready pictures with minimal color corrections and a range of angles despite the time frame. It was a real personal pleasure to take this collection!
